Introduction to Inkle Loom Weaving

Class Description

This workshop will introduce participants to weaving on an Inkle Loom, a small loom that makes straps up to 3″ wide. The result of this class will be a colorful hand-woven strap that can be used as a belt, handle, or guitar strap.

During the first session participants will learn how to prepare (warp) their loom with the colors and pattern of their choice. During the second session participants will complete the warping process and start weaving their strap. During the third (optional) session participants will tie off and complete their projects.


Materials Needed

All supplies including Inkle looms, shuttle sticks, cotton warp and weft threads will be provided.

Katie Weaver has been teaching weaving and other fiber arts for 30 years at North Country School, Northwood School, and around the ADKs. She is a Lake Placid native and enjoys sharing her weaving knowledge with the community.
