Cold Read: Uncle Vanya

Ahead of the screening of National Theatre Live’s one-man Vanya captured on the West End, join us for a community reading of the play Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov!

No rehearsal and no experience necessary! Join us for this fun opportunity to bring a character to life when we read the play aloud, or sit back and listen while your friends and neighbors explore Chekhov’s heartbreaking comedy about the eternal battle between futility and change.

9 roles available. A digital copy of the script will be made available ahead of the reading.

Participants will be offered $5 discounted tickets to the Saturday, January 18 screening of Vanya starring Andrew Scott. After familiarizing yourself with the script on Thursday, enjoy this one-man adaptation Saturday on the LPCA screen, captured during the production’s sold-out run in London’s West End!

Please email Tyler at [email protected] to RSVP and express interest! Interested in reading a specific role? Let us know in advance! Otherwise, roles will be assigned at random to anyone who wishes to participate.

What’s a Cold Read? Typically, a cold read is when an actor is asked to perform a script with little-to-no preparation. Used often in the audition process, a cold read calls upon the actor’s spontaneity and ability to grasp material swiftly. However, LPCA’s Cold Reads are casual and pressure-free!

Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.
