This concert offers a delightful and dynamic journey through a variety of musical styles and eras, each piece highlighting unique cultural and emotional landscapes. The program opens with Gioachino Rossini’s energetic and comedic “Italiana in Algeri Overture,” setting a lively and playful tone. Transitioning into the mid-20th century, Francis Poulenc’s “Hoops” brings a modern charm with its lighthearted and whimsical character. Franz Lehár’s “Hungarian Fantasy” and Jenő Hubay’s “Hejre Kati” celebrate the vibrant rhythms and melodies of Central European folk traditions, rich with virtuosic flair and heartfelt expression, interpreted by Romanian born violinist Daniel Szasz. The evening culminates with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s dramatic and fiery Symphony No. 25, a masterpiece of the Sturm und Drang movement that captures the depth of human emotion. Together, this repertoire promises an engaging exploration of musical brilliance, from humor and playfulness to passion and intensity.
