Class Description

Learn to weave in just one day and walk away with a beautiful project that helps your backyard birds build their homes!

Create a fun, one-of-a-kind weaving on a loom that can be hung outdoors to provide feathered friends with a variety of nesting materials or displayed inside as a work of art. Learn the basics of weaving on a floor loom and leave with a finished (or nearly finished!) piece ready to hang. Fringe braiding can be completed at home.

Designed for first-time weavers and anyone looking to experiment, this workshop introduces basic content knowledge of tools, materials, and weaving techniques. Looms will be pre-warped with cotton, and a playful assortment of wool yarn, roving, feathers and sticks will be available to incorporate into your creation. Students are encouraged to bring any additional materials they’d like to weave into their project!

Class includes a break for lunch.

This workshop is designed to use only bird-friendly material as recommended by The Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
