Fall 2026 Open Juried Exhibition
In the Annex Gallery September 25 – November 7, 2026

For over 25 years, the Lake Placid Center for the Arts (now Arts Center Lake Placid) has presented a fall juried art exhibition to celebrate the extraordinary talent of artists in our region and beyond. This long-standing tradition brings to life not only the astounding beauty of the Adirondack landscape, but also a broad range of viewpoints in all mediums that explore subjects beyond the familiar wildlife, mountains and lakes. Always free to the public, this annual exhibit features work from 50-100 artists and distributes $5,000 in cash prizes to the authors of the top three works, as selected by each year’s jurors. From paintings and pottery to photography and fiber arts, we are proud to highlight and support local art.

Opposites Attract

What happens when things that shouldn’t work together… do? Opposites Attract explores the unexpected chemistry and the creative power of paradox. It celebrates unlikely pairings that may seem to contradict one another, yet together produce something compelling, meaningful, and new – think bittersweet, deafening silence, or organized chaos. These dynamic combinations invite curiosity, reflection, and challenge expectations.
This exhibition invites artists to embrace contradiction not as something to resolve, but as a force to explore. Here, opposites do not cancel each other out; they amplify, transform and surprise. Tension evolves into harmony and contrast becomes connection.
We welcome submissions from artists of all mediums and perspectives. We seek work that celebrates difference, sparks dialogue, and reveals how powerful ideas often emerge from what initially seems incompatible – because sometimes what doesn’t fit is exactly what works.
