Intro to Weaving with Katie Weaver

Class Description

This course is designed to give the aspiring fiber artist a basic introduction to weaving. Students will have an opportunity to learn how to weave using three different looms (inkle, rigid heddle and four-harness).

Instructional classes will take place Saturdays 1-3 pm, and Tuesdays and Thursday 4-6 pm.
Open studio time between classes will be available to each student.

Four-Harness Loom Weaving

This course introduces participants to weaving on a four-harness table loom, pre-warped with a pattern and color scheme. Students will create a colorful handwoven table runner, pillow, tapestry, or set of placemats.

Rigid Heddle Loom Weaving

This course introduces participants to weaving on a rigid heddle loom. Students will create a colorful handwoven set of placemats, pillow, scarf or table runner.

Inkle Loom Weaving

This course introduces participants to weaving on an inkle loom, a small loom used to create straps up to 3″ wide. Students will create a colorful handwoven strap that can be used as a belt, handle, guitar strap and more!

Katie Weaver has been teaching weaving and other fiber arts for 30 years at North Country School, Northwood School, and around the ADKs. She is a Lake Placid native and enjoys sharing her weaving knowledge with the community.
