Celebrate the 2026 Holiday Season by joining the cast of The Nutcracker—a beloved tradition for the entire community!

Rehearsals

Rehearsals begin the weekend of September 26. Not everyone will be needed at the first rehearsals.

Rehearsal locations may not be finalized until after auditions as we work to accommodate the broad geographic reach of everyone involved in the production.

Older Dancers: Weekends in September, October, and November (beginning September 26).
Younger Dancers: Weekends in October and November.
Please note that all dancers must be available during the week of November 23 (excluding Thanksgiving Day).

Saturday, November 28 at 1 pm
Sunday, November 29 at 1 pm

Lake Placid High School
Saturday, December 5 at 1 pm
Sunday, December 6 at 1 pm


DANCER AUDITION INFORMATION

  • Please come dressed to move and prepared to dance.
  • While not required, we recommend booking an audition appointment using the links below.
  • Arts Center Lake Placid believes dance is for everyone. Formal dance training or current enrollment in a training program (and/or experience in skating, gymnastics, or other movement-based activities) is encouraged but not required. We welcome dancers of all genders, backgrounds, abilities, styles and experience levels to audition for any role.
  • Parents/Guardians will be asked to fill out additional forms at auditions. If your child is cast in the production, we ask that one parent or family member participate in a Parent Volunteer Committee. Information about committee opportunities and expectations will be available soon. Sign-ups will take place early in the rehearsal process.


Female Roles

(Audition times are divided by age)

Ages 5-8

Sign in at 9:00 am. Auditions begin at 9:15 am. Younger dancers may be released before older dancers.


Ages 8-11

Sign in at 9:15 am. Auditions begin at 9:30 am. Some dancers in this age group may be asked to attend a callback audition.


Ages 12+

(soft slipper and en pointe)
Sign in at 9:30 am. Auditions begin at 10:00 am. Dancers who have been en pointe for more than two years should bring their pointe shoes.

Please note: Some roles require advanced ballet training and proficiency en pointe, including select Snow and Waltz roles, the Dewdrop Fairy, and Angel.

The audition may include excerpts from Act 2 Divertissements.
