The Self-Portrait

Gallery Hours:
Monday-Friday 10 am – 4 pm
Opening Celebration: Friday, April 10, 4-6 pm

Self-portraiture has a long history rooted in antiquity. From the painted masterpieces of the Renaissance to today’s ubiquitous “selfie”, artists have long turned the lens, brush, or pen on themselves.

Now it’s your turn! Artists are invited to explore the timeless tradition of self-portraiture in this themed juried exhibition.

Self-portraits can be so much more than just a likeness. They can capture identity, emotion, reflection, and imagination. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme in their own unique way. How do you see yourself? How do you want to be seen? Whether working in realism or abstraction, artists are encouraged to explore light, movement, reflections, fragmented or partial figures, transformation, temporal or environmental elements, tell a story or make a bold statement. Let your work open a window into your world.
