Cathy Johnston grew up in Plattsburgh, NY. She attended Union College in Schenectady where she developed her love of theater and was president of the student theater group for 3 years. She received her MBA from the Darden School of the University of Virginia and worked in the corporate world for Wachovia Bank and then Burlington Industries in North Carolina and New York City. In 1984, she and her husband, Wayne, bought Ruthie’s Run in Lake Placid and are still there.
Cathy served on the Lake Placid Central School Board for 22 years. She has been involved in the LPCA since moving here and has served on the board and as president several times. She is also a trustee of the Adirondack Foundation and the Lake Placid Educational Foundation. She serves on the Lake Placid Horse Show Board and is active in the Lake Placid Business Association.
Cathy believes that the LPCA is what makes Lake Placid a special place to live in the Adirondacks.
