About the Instructor
Kristen Glazier is originally from Woburn, Massachusetts, where she began her dance career at the Boston Ballet School. She graduated with honors from the University of Hartford Hartt School with a BFA in dance performance. While in school she danced professionally with Hartford Ballet in many well-known ballets including works from world renowned choreographers like George Balanchine and new works from Jean Grand Maitre of Alberta Ballet. She worked under the direction of Kirk Peterson, Peggy Lyman, Alla Osipenko, Raymond Lukens and Franco DeVita among many others. In 2000 she joined the contemporary ballet company David Taylor Dance Theatre as a principal dancer in Denver, Colorado, touring throughout the US. She danced traditional roles such as the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker and the lead in Balanchine’s Valse-Fantaisie as well as principal roles in Martha Graham’s Acts of Light. While performing Kristen also taught ballet and modern dance to children in Colorado and guest taught in the Northeast. She continues to conduct dance workshops for local children in Malone as well as teaching ballet and contemporary dance, while creating pieces for the competition team at All That Jazz in Moira, NY. Kristen has brought dance performances to Malone in collaboration with Adirondack Dance Academy and Foothills Art Society.
Kristen is a certified STOTT Pilates instructor and has a studio, Momentum Center for Movement, in Malone.
Ms. Glazier has been on the artistic staff of the former North Country Ballet Ensemble (now the LPCA Nutcracker) since 2014 where she has been involved in setting choreography for the production. In 2021 Kristen was invited to choreograph a Variation for the production. She is looking forward to working with the students of Lake Placid School of Dance while bringing her love for ballet technique and sharing her passion for the artform.
